Request and Issuance of Certificates/Official Diploma and Self-Declarations models

In compliance with current regulations, Luiss issues only certified stamps that can only be used in private matters, and the following statement required by law is included:

“This certificate may not be submitted to government authorities or private operators of public services.”

The types of certificates that can be requested – available both in Italian and English – are:

Enrollment certificate with exams (not available after degree completion)
Degree completion certificate
Degree completion certificate with exams

For certificates requiring specific details and/or additional notes, such as certificates for abroad and/or with the handwritten/digital certified signature of the Registrar, it is necessary to contact the Post Graduate Office via email at lsl@luiss.it  to check feasibility and processing times.

How to request and collect certificates

To request stamped certificates, the interested party can choose one of the following methods:

  • By sending the certificate request form (without the revenue stamp) and a copy of their valid identity document via email to lsl@luiss.it. Once the completed request is received, the Post Graduate Office will calculate the revenue stamps (one €16 stamp for the request and one additional €16 stamp for each certificate), which can be paid online via PagoPa on Luiss Web Self Service area (under the “Fees” section). After the payment is verified, the requested certificates will be issued.
  • By visiting the Post Graduate Office at Viale Pola 12, either personally or via a delegate, only by appointment, bringing a valid identity document, the certificate request form, and the corresponding €16 stamps, including the one for the request form. (Example: a request for two certificates requires three €16 stamps). Issuance is immediate, except in cases where certificates require specific details or additional notes. If a third party is delegated, the delegate must present their identity document, a signed simple delegation form, and a copy of the delegator’s identity document.

How to request and collect the Official Diploma

If it was not already collected on Graduation Day, the interested party can choose one of the following methods to collect the diploma:

  • By sending the certificate request form (without the revenue stamp) and a copy of their valid identity document via email to lsl@luiss.it . Once the completed request is received, the Post Graduate Office will send the diploma via ordinary mail to the address indicated on the form.

  • By appointment at the Post Graduate Office at Viale Pola 12 via email (lsl@luiss.it ). The student must present a valid identity document and the certificate request form. Issuance is immediate. If a third party is delegated, the delegate must present their identity document, a signed simple delegation form, and a copy of the delegator’s identity document.

Self-Declarations

In accordance with Article 15 of Law 183/2011, Public Administrations and Public Service Providers can no longer request or accept certificates produced by other public offices.

In relations with Public Administration authorities and Public Service Providers, certificates are always replaced by self-declarations, which these entities are required to accept under penalty of breaching official duties.

In compliance with this regulation, Luiss provides pre-filled self-declareations models related to students’ academic paths, available in both Italian and English. Self-declarations can be accessed through Luiss Web Self Service (under the “Enrollment/Certificates” section > “Self-declarations”) and are issued on plain paper, without any revenue stamp.

It is important to remember that the individual is personally responsible for the content of their declarations, and the administration may carry out appropriate checks and take any necessary action.

It is advisable, especially in international contexts, to verify that the self-declaration will be accepted as a substitute for the stamped certificates issued by the Post Graduate Office.

To access the service, you need your User ID and password (PIN). If you no longer have this information, you can send a request email to: lsl@luiss.it, attaching a valid identity document.

It is recommended to keep your contact information updated, especially the email address, which will facilitate automatic recovery of credentials

Diploma Supplement

The Diploma Supplement is a supplementary document to the official academic title awarded at the end of a university or higher education course. It describes the nature, level, context, content, and status of the studies completed by the student, in accordance with the standard model developed by the European Commission, the Council of Europe, and UNESCO.

Diploma supplements include information regarding the degree as well as detailed descriptions of the courses taken by the student, so that it is easier to evaluate and recognize Italian degrees abroad – both academically and professionally – and promote a free and transparent circulation of degrees internationally.

The Diploma Supplement is issued both in Italian and English and is made up of 8 sections:

  • the graduate’s personal data
  • information on the degree and the institution issuing the degree
  • information on the level of degree (course, duration and admission requirements)
  • information on the curriculum, exam grades and final grade with details on the grading system
  • information on the functions of the degree (educational programs that the degree grants entry to, professional status conferred by the degree)
  • other information or sources of information
  • certification
  • information on the higher education system of the country in which the degree was awarded
